Gravatar I always love your analysis of any topic. What a "wish list" you have here for Obama. I'm with you on his mission to make the Clintons go away. We can only keep our fingers crossed.

Gravatar So Oprah 'Soap Opera' Win Free says Barack Hussein Obama is THE MAN, but her fellow 'brothers' like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton and the NAACP say "...Barack isn't BLACK enough so we're supporting snow bunny Hillary!" Drama by the defeatocrats... I love the drama and scripted scenarios they try to pull over on the 31 Red States of America. Please tell these losers to keep it up and not to change a darn thing....

Gravatar Both of them can pound sand up their a****.

Gravatar Frankly, anyone that uses a celebrity endorsement as part of their reasoning to vote for a particular candidate is an idiot. Or, for the most part, any endorsement.

Gravatar Democrat Barack Obama hopes to capitalize on the so-called "Oprah Effect" which, according to a Bloomberg writer, is known to "transform books, beauty products and foods into sales blockbusters." Unfortunately, I predict it may have the opposite effect and result in the Illinois senator's presidential aspirations being left in A Million Little Pieces.

Forgive me for the reference to James Frey's famously fabricated memoir. But with polls showing Hillary Clinton at her lowest point since announcing her candidacy and the Iowa Caucuses less than 30 days out, I predict the Clinton political machine is on the verge of striking Obama. And striking hard.

Just days before families across the nation -- especially in Iowa and New Hampshire -- begin gathering for Christmas, I expect the machine to kick into high gear, serving up a buffet of dirty little secrets to its lapdogs in the mainstream news media.

By the time the Iowa Caucuses are held Jan. 3, those dirty little secrets unearthed by Hillary's folks -- whatever they turn out to be and regardless of whether or not they bear a shred of truth -- will have raised "reasonable doubt" in the minds of the jury (a.k.a., "Iowa voters"). As a result, Hillary will win Iowa.

That victory will, of course, be heralded by the likes of CNN, the Daily Kos and the Washington Post as a precursor of things to come in the Democratic primaries. Six months and several dirty little secrets later, Hillary will have the nomination wrapped up.

And that's where the 'A Million Little Pieces' reference returns to the picture.

Remember the media frenzy that surrounded Frey's return appearance on Oprah's couch. She sat him down and, in front of millions of viewers and a studio audience full of scowling faces, chewed him out for failing to live up to her expectations. After all, Frey's book was an Oprah's Book Club selection.

The same thing is going to happen to Obama.

The man Oprah had anointed as the first black president of the United States even before the first vote was cast will be verbally flogged for having lost the Democratic Party nomination and, as a result, brought much shame and humiliation to the O.

All hail Oprah!

Gravatar I feel sorry for Obama. If he even comes close to winning in Iowa or New Hampshire - or heaven help him beat Hillary in one - the Clinton machine will come down on him without mercy. Of course exposing their power lust and political savagery may be as you said "his higher purpose."

Gravatar Addendum: Oprah can kiss this old seadog's buckskin a**. If the people of this country would actually follow this woman's recommendation is a thought beyond actual reality.

Gravatar Sparkle:

There's hope for you yet. Do you want to understand why we NEED Obama as President? Check out this column: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/1...gin& oref=slogin - as an American who has lived and worked for most of the past 17 years abroad, I can tell you that our reputation is in tatters overseas. And this has HUGE consequences for Americans at home (not just terrorism, but trade, environment etc.)

You say Reagan is your hero, right? Well, I will give him his due. He was a right-winger (I'm not) who actually brought America (and the world) together. Unlike Bush, he WAS a uniter.

Of the current crop of candidates, only Barack has that potential. So once he wins the Dem nomination, I hope you'll consider him against whomever emerges from the (lackluster) Republican field...

Gravatar Glenn,

I don't get it either, but white women across America adore her. It will be interesting to see if she can peel away those women voters from Hillary.

calmnsense,

To me it's not being a "uniter," it's about doing what is right. HItler brought the German people together and was very popular internationally for a while. No, sometimes a leader sacrifices his own popularity for the greater good. History will tell us if Bush was right. I think he was.

Barack seems like a geniune person. But he is so wrong on so many issues, I could never trust him. I could never trust someone who says they care for the poor of our society, but advocates the destruction of our most vulnerable, the unborn.

Until Democrats see the horror of abortion on children and women, I will never vote for one again.

Gravatar Sparkle:

I appreciate your abhorrence of abortion. As a Christian, I especially relate to believers with a consistent ethic of life (i.e. vehemently opposed to both capital punishment and abortion) because I think this is Scriptural.

However, we live in a pluralistic society. I'd like to see capital punishment banned, but don't expect that ever again in my lifetime and I think, likewise, a ban on abortion is NOT about to happen in America.

What can we do to reduce abortions, if not eliminate them entirely? There is plenty, if we are honest about it. But groups like R-T-L seem singularly focused on overturning Roe v. Wade and again, I say to you..."get real".

Also, I think it's wrong to suggest that someone who supports a woman's right to privacy and believes that decision is between her, her doctor and her God is somehow "advocating the destruction of the unborn".

BTW, there are plenty of "pro-life" Dems. PA Gov. Bob Casey springs to mind as just one and I think the party is becoming more accepting of this than vice-versa (i.e. "pro-choice" Rs).

What's "pro-life" about sending young men to be blown up or die in a pointless war in Iraq anyway?

Gravatar calmnsense,

A few points. You are wrong about Right to lifers. I've spent over 20 yrs in the movement. Most of us do what we can to help women through crisis pregnancies. Don't believe everything you see in the media. And that includes enormous help AFTER the baby is born.

2nd, I'm glad those who opposed slavery didn't give up and think they could never overturn the Dred Scott decision. How about just less slavery? Would that have worked for you?

3rd, Casey is the ONLY pro-life Democrat. Name another. And the Democrats kept his father from speaking the DNC because of those beliefs. So spare me the big tent argument of the Democratic party.

Now, regarding the war. YOu see, you and I can disagree whether it's pointless or not. You think it is, I think it is a turning point in history that had to be taken. But the killing of unborn children? That is pointless and there is no arguing that.

Gravatar RWS:

According to Democrats for Life, there are approximately 40 pro-life Dems currently serving in the Congress, including the Senate majority leader. Moreover, under Howard Dean, the party is making a concerted effort to reach out to pro-life groups and candidates.

I would imagine that in the event comprehensive legislation were to be crafted for purposes of helping (pre- and post-natal) large numbers of women to carry their unwanted pregnancies to term, it would receive huge backing from Democrats (you know, "safe, legal and rare.") Of course, if the legislation were drafted under pay-go principles, with taxes increased to pay for the protection of the unborn, Republicans would vote against it, en masse.

Gravatar Dolf,

I don't know what kind of justification you got going there, but Democrats don't care about the unborn. At. All.

The Senate Majority Leader??? Now that is funny.

Gravatar Nationalism...Oh those were the Third Reich days, eh? Ein Reich....Ein Volk...
Ein Fuhrer... One Volkswagon! Frohe Weihnachten und Gutes Neues Jahr 2008! And FDR saved the world... and this is the DANKE the liberal socialists give US?

Gravatar Sparkle - Isn't it a bit annoying how easily people like that just outright lie. Make sh*t up?

Gravatar Sparkle do you believe that birth control should be outlawed ?

Gravatar John Ryan - The Pope does, therefore we should do so. Right? Your standard in the other thread.

You are a silly small man, aren't you?

Gravatar I have a theory about Oprah........ she sold her soul to the devil for the love and respect of middle-aged women. While most might do so for money or fame, these rediculously overly devoted fans have brought her both.
