Gravatar Amen.

Gravatar A man should defend his womenfolk, that is the way of it.

Gravatar Ah, the cool voters who figure out what's cool by what Matt Lauer tells them is cool.

It turns out you can F- up your economy for a generation and it's not so romantic.

Gravatar Thank you for your admission.

I'm from Arizona and have known that McCain is no good for a decade!

With a little hard work, the
Republican voters in Arizona will put an end to his Senate career next year.

Gravatar Admitting that you have a problem is half the battle. You are on the road to recovery for sure.

Gravatar Welcome back!

Gravatar I was for Fred Thompson all the way. He's still the best candidate the Republicans could nominate. He would eviscerate Obama in any debate, even if Obama had a teleprompter!

Not to mention that Thompson's policies would be 100% better for the country than are Obama's.

chicopanther

Gravatar Sparkle, that was one of the finest things that you have said.

Gravatar Thompson has one fatal flaw.

He doesn't want the job either.

It is time to stop blaming ther candidates the RNC puts up, or doesn't.

It is even time to stop blaming the RNC.

It is time for us to change the RNC, or replace it.

Gravatar You don't like Grandad anymore? I can't believe it babes. Grandad was your guy. The whole way through. Everyone was saying that plastic guy should win but no, you were shouting for grandad the whole way and now you are turning on him? I can't believe it. Well I still like Grandad and his daughter. I don't care what any of you lot say.

Gravatar I've never commented on your blog but I know who you are from other blogs. Kudos for the mea culpa. It takes a lot of courage to admit you were wrong.

Me?

First time ever I did not cast a vote for President. Despised them both. Despise one A LOT MORE now. Which means I despise McCain less now.

Gravatar "I don't care what ... you ... say."

Lot of that going around.

Gravatar Well said and welcome to the light.

I do take issue with this statement of yours:
"Although, I don't think anyone could have beaten Obama with all his money and the media on his side." end quote.

A true conservative would have won this election, regardless of all the media fawning and pandering.

It is good to see that a former democrat has come all the way from the dark side to emphasizing true conservatism, which is the founding and sustaining principles of this country.

Thank you for writing this and being honest.

Gravatar First: Welcome back Sparkle... the spell is broken!

As for Palin, it's not that McCain didn't use her effectively. Once he saw her popularity it made him almost poo in his seat on the Straight Talk Express. He intentionally kept her on a short leash and muzzled because he knew she resonated in a way he never could. Remember - McCain wanted Lieberman for his running mate.

Larry you are so right about Thompson. I saw him speak during the primaries and came away knowing that he had no desire to be President. Oddly enough this made him an even better candidate in my opinion.

Kevin - thanks for the link to that excellent video on government!

DaveB - thank God you can't vote here

Gravatar "A true conservative would have won this election, regardless of all the media fawning and pandering."

If you take the people that voted for "notas Badas" and any sizable fraction of the people that stayed home, it would have been a landslide.

Gravatar quote[As Republicans we need to never again make the mistake of nominating someone who is not completely dedicated to Conservative ideals. No more giving the nomination to "the next in line." We need STRONG Conservatives who passionately believe in our message of liberty, freedom, smaller government, greater personal responsibility, the sanctity of life, and lower taxes.]endquote

I agree but a lot of Republicans in powerful party positions don't want the same things that conservatives do. Somehow we are going to have to re-make the Republican party. Anything outside the two party system won't be embraced by a majority of Americans.

Gravatar The founder of the modern Minuteman movement, Chris Simcox, is taking on McCain in the AZ 2010 Senatorial election. Go Simcox! SimcoxForSenate.com

Gravatar McCain made it a big point in his race that he wanted taxpayer funded embryonic stem cell research. And McCain was your main man? Wow!

Gravatar Kev- As it happens my endorsement means a lot to a lot of people in your country.

it made him almost poo in his seat on the Straight Talk Express.

Don't let grandad hear me but I would guess you are probably right, although I can see how a few of the things she said might have embarassed him too. She is a very devisive woman and we won't know till the next election whether everyone loves her or hates her, maybe not even then.

Gravatar "Somehow we are going to have to re-make the Republican party."

For one thing, I've stopped supporting them. When they send me an expensive "survey" with lots of room to write donations information, I write instructions on putting up and supporting small-government, low tax, fiscally and financially responsible candidates, and start espousing platform planks (remember those) with supporting ideals.

I am not under the illusion that anybody reads them.

Gravatar RWS,this was a great post.

Gravatar "I was wrong
I was like the teenager who is just convinced she is the smartest person in the room, and we all know there is no reasoning with that"

Well, there is still hope for you Sparkle...it seems that you are comming to your senses...now, I am looking forward to the day when you'll admit how wrong you are about palin too...you can't see it now because you are so in love with her , because she is your messiah, and your Palin adulation is blinding you...but you will see it one day! Ohhh, and I am not a leftist...I am a Republican and proud to be one!

Gravatar I'd like to suggest we start to define what "conservatism" means. Strict religiocity (or at least how it is portrayed in the media, even by many "conservative" promoters) is making this party exclusive to moderates whose primary concerns for this country lie in fiscal conservatism.

I do support the moral/ethical issues of the deep conservative base, but not at the expense of losing elections. Stop the bible-beating, transfer these issues into the control of the States where they belong, and refocus on making this a stronger country.

As to our candidates, I want to see someone with some balls take media head-on and focus on the real challenges we face. No pandering to the middle, to the left or to the right, FOCUS ON THE CORE ISSUES.

Gravatar Great post, Sparkle.

Gravatar On remake.....

This old conserative has always though the point was freedom.

Freedom.

Freedom to be born.

freedom to be religious.

Freedom not to.

Freedom to what ever kind of religious I want to be.

Freedom to expect the truth.

I don't know why we let the leftists define us.

Probably so we could win elections at any cost.

I say the cost was too high.

And we don't win elections.

I wonder if there is a connection.

Gravatar Yeah. Good one. Define conservatism again. I am confused.

Gravatar Three words: President Thaddeus McCotter

Gravatar Very classy and gracious Miss Sparkle.

I didn't vote for McCain because his determination for a pathway to citizenship for 20+ million (mostly) Democratic voters made him more dangerous to the long term prospects for our country than Obama. I didn't vote for Obama either.

Gravatar RWS, this is a wonderful post! It DOES take a lot of guts to admit that you were wrong. I had fun debating here on the virtues of Mitt Romney, but I commend this post on my blog. And, agree wholeheartedly. No "next in line" thinking. We need a good, strong, articulate, not afraid to speak the conservative truth candidate next time around. Again, thanks for the post!

Gravatar As I watched the campaign and election unfold it suddenly struck me I wasn't a Republican anymore. I am a conservative - big government is bad no matter which party supports it. So I'll vote conservative and no longer donate the the Republican party... Their loss..

Gravatar Rightwing sparkle: For once I have to 50% MAYBE 75% DISAGREE with you about John McCain. I have been fighting the McCain Wing of the Republican Party since 1998. I knew back in 1998 that Teddy Roosevelt Progressive’s have NO place in the Republican Party. McCain should Never and I repeat never have been the Republican Nominee in 2008. Besides McCain wasn't elected by Republicans in the primaries. What do you think Operation Chaos was about? Hell McCain has never even held a Private sector Job in his Life either. Thank God George W. Bush beat McCain in 2000. No The Republican Party doesn't need a Global Warming, Campaign Finance Loving, Talk show host scolding, Progressive, as a Nominee EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR AGAIN.

PS: AND THE REPUBLICAN PARTY SHOULD NEVER AND I REPEAT NEVER Recognize OPEN PRIMARIES, CAUCUS'S, (Vote by Mail in Oregon) EVER AGAIN FOR THERE NOMINEE. If you want to vote for a Republican Nominee then become a Republican 6 months in advance before a primary. None of this Same Day Registration b********************. This should be taken up with the RNC to counter act Northeastern States AND SOME OTHER BLUE STATES. I have emailed Chairmen Steele about this.
