As I said in one of my posts....
What we need is a seperation of sports and state.
Congress is wasting time and tax dollars. But they don't care, it isn't like it is their money. If they run out, they can print, borrow or steal more from us.

Can you site one example of where the Terrorist Survailance Program used warrantless wiretaps to convict a terrorist (or even thwart a planned attack)???
No. (Unless you have access to things that not even our members of Congress have due to "state secrets".)
The only thing you have to rely on is the word of those who work for George W. Bush, who has lied about this program, has used terror tactics to attempt to get the Congress to approve the program without having all the necessary information to make an informed decision on our behalf.
The fact that certain wiretaps were disconnected due to the government not paying the phone bills for them disproves any type of patriotic stance taken by the telecom's.
The fact that "immunity" is necessary for all who co-operated in this program (despite the fact that they claim it was a legal program.)
Now, as to the argument that Telco's won't assist the government in the future......
Well, if the program is legal, and they don't comply they are breaking the law and will face either criminal charges or lawsuits. If the program is illegal, they shouldn't be "assisting" the government until the government makes the program legal.
Retroactive immunity for breaking the law applied solely at the whim of the President is not something this country should be contemplating. The President can issue a pardon if he is worried about criminal charges being brought Federally, or can push for a law guaranteeing indemnity if he is worried about non-compliance with legal requests in the future. Retroactive immunity for breaking the law is not a part of the America I know.

And please explain how you were able to place the blame for the expiration on the "Senate Democrats" who passed a bill which included everything requested by President Bush?
Are you even attempting to follow this?

And the claim that "the United States has suffered no significant terror attack since the Sept. 11, 2001, massacre" (from the Hoover Institute article you cite) really doesn't honor our troops killed by terrorists in Iraq or Afghanistan, does it now.
It really can't be comforting for the men and women killed defending the U.S. Consulates in Saudi Arabia (2004), Syria (2006), Bhagdad (2005), Pakistan (2006).
The families of the kids killed at Virginia Tech may also feel a less "significant" thanks to this comment.
If it is not the terrorists who are killing all our soldiers, then who is it? Are their lives really not "significant"?
Nice.
