I turned on login event auditing in order to solve the issue of how long people had been on the machine.
Taking the modem in my handbag with me when I go out works for me. It doesn't stop him going on the computer, but certainly cuts down on internet access? Have yet to figure out how to control his Mac from mine, but it's just a matter of time. Mwah ah ah ah ah. 
Devious AND practical. I like it.

You are a moderately competent fuse-blower... so.....
Take one old Maplin surplus DIN socket & install it in the PC case. Run the Front Panel Power-up lead through it, and some of the M/B low-voltage leads.
Wire up a DIN plug to re-connect the cut leads, & seal it up.
Ta-daaahh! One cheap power dongle, to be issued & withdrawn as you wish - just before they finish that all-important level on that vital game produces interesting teenage reactions...

Pseudo, just open a finder window and look down the left under Network. So long as, on the target machine, you have the sharing control panel set to share screen and share files, you should see top right of the window two buttons - share screen and connect as...
