Your posting is mostly right but I feel duty bound to point out that the study you cite referring to trees not being any use unless planted in the tropics has a few flaws. Carbon Planet employs a paleoecologist to help us look into such studies and she assures me that the study you cite is only relevant for trees planted far in the northern hemisphere. The trees Carbon Planet sources its forestry carbon credits from are all native Australian hardwoods planted in regions across New South Wales and are certainly not a waste of time with respect to combating planetary heating. The stdy also fails to allow for the thousands of other ecological benefits of tree planting.
