As a retired librarian (and now a homeschooling mom), I particularly enjoy your comments on book bannings. I always thought it was sort of sad that some people would object to well-written books, like the Harry Potter books, that contained magic, but no one ever objected to the dreadfully rubbishy books, like California Raisins and Strawberry Shortcake books, that the director liked to buy and add to "my" collection.
Also, thank you for the informative entry on the Pearl controversy. I haven't read any of their stuff, don't read T.O.S., and have only heard of them in passing, but I have recently heard of people Not wanting to support Amazon and had no idea Why. Now I know.
