I enjoyed your review. I too, finished reading with a sense that I could really be friends with this lady! She is full of life and knowledge that I am only learning, but more over, is totally aware and comfortable with motherhood/family thing. Love it!

I really want to get this book and read it. Thanks for the review. I am going to the farmer's market today! :)

Mat has tried making the mozzarella. It worked pretty well the first time though I bet it will be better the second. He's now bought the cheese book she refers to. And phoned the local dairy supply asking about workshops (none at the moment, they are building a new factory).

You're right about the family thing. And I also notice that her kids are right on board. So many people underestimate what their kids will get into. It's like they predecide what kids like and don't like and then, as if by magic, that's how it turns out.

My kid hates Kraft Singles, for example. Having been raised on good mature English cheddar, brie, etc., they have no flavour. But how many families buy mild cheese for the kids and something tastier for themselves?

Enjoyed your post. I'd like to invite you to link it to the Animal, Vegetable, Miracle blogpost roundup.
