Wow -- next time the music theme comes around, my search for books is going to begin (and quite possibly end) with this post. Thank you so much for the time you put into this.

There's another resource we should remember -- one that doesn't even require us to go so far as the mailbox, let alone the library or video store: YouTube.

For Woody Guthrie, Buddy Holly, Bird and Diz...

Okay. I guess I am a crap homeschooling mother and better pull my socks up ;-)

Thanks for all of that.

Chris, I told you it got out of hand! Haven't yet made it to (the good parts of) YouTube since we're on dial-up here in the boonies.

JoVE, we're just an old music, old movie kind of family. The boys are just discovering Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon thanks to their grandfather :)

Holy Cannoli, Becky. That is an awesome post. Thank you for taking the time to put it together. I can't wait to check out some of these old movies, plus the books! Junior is currently into "Fame," Beethoven, and J-Lo.

Have you read Beethoven's 39 Apartments? Cool book on Ludwig--fictionalized but fun.

Susan, oh for a cannoli lol. My eldest had a thing for Shania Twain at around age 3; I had to nip that thang in the bud, though, when my daughter asked for a pair of "dancing pants", just like Shania's. Oops...

I think Laura borrowed "39 Apartments" from the library in the fall, but her favorite remains "Beethoven Lives Upstairs"; we have some of the books, and just about all of the Classical Kids audio CDs. Quirkiest one we all like about Beethoven is probably "Cassie Loves Beethoven" about a cow (yay!) by Alan Arkin, of all people.
