Amen to "Blaming the Building". How many property owners have left buildings vacant--left the buildings to fend for themselves against weather, scavengers, and drug dealers. Then they demolish them in the name of public safety because they are havens for crack users, and the homeless, and are in structural disrepair. I wish there were a way to tax the bejesus out of property owners who leave buildings to rot. And to demolish a building should take at least as much public input as a liquor license renewal does.
