Wells is one of the only DC council members with balls-
he takes on the NIMBYs in his own backyard.
We have to give him a lot of credit for this.

Keep the plaza open to pedestrians !!!

Gravatar How was it? Beautiful!

Gravatar Closing the street is a great idea.

Gravatar The opening? It was great. The street has been closed on weekends since the post-fire triage planning-opening.

Now the challenge is to be able to keep the street closed on weekends.

There is vociferous opposition by the merchants. They believe that the 11 parking spaces on the street are vital to their business.

Many of the merchants--of Eastern Market and the business proprietors of the businesses on 7th Street--are suburbanites, and very car-centric.

Gravatar Eastern Market Pottery re-opened also- and it is in the basement- a far more accessable place than before when it was in the back and in those rooms upstairs.

Gravatar at least the city gov't didnt make the same idiotic mistake they made with the Washington Sculpture Center- kicking them out of their hard won territory in a hostile takeover move to build the all - important Nats stadium. Here is the story of Susan Jacobs- professional potter at the EM Pottery. Good story;
