I'd hate to see a fifth floor patio full and Farragut Square sitting empty.


Gravatar open space in the city = suburban sprawl outside of the city .
Open space too often means free and easy parking for Northern Virginians & those who wish to impose their culture[more like lack of it] and domination over us here in the city.This city already has a huge public space legacy - and much of it festers and is not cared for in a good way.


Gravatar Well these are more like small public spaces. Quiet corners for reflection, to catch a quick nap, to read a book. The squares in DC are nice, but they aren't very private. SF has large open parks and squares too, even some close to downtown (like Yerba Buena Center). But the ones in that article are more along the lines of well designed, intimate plazas.
