Gravatar Well, if they'd just change all the "rapid bus" to "streetcar" then it'd be just about perfect. I'd even be happy if the current streetcar lines were labeled "phase 1" and the lines labeled as "rapid bus" were re-labeled "streetcar phase 2, build as rapid bus first."

I am glad to see the inclusion of 16th street in addition to Ga Ave. One of my repeated suggestions at all the streetcar planning meetings was that rapid bus should only be used for such parallel routings: that with a streetcar on Ga Ave, they should do rapid bus on 16th and 14th streets.

If they could find a cross-jurisdictional way to cross the Potomac, a streetcar route that went Bolling AFB--Navy Yard--Pentagon could actually be useful for the military.

Gravatar there's no reason that any of these lines can't cross the DC border, as long as the other jurisdictions agree.

E.g., the Georgia Ave. streetcar is likely to go to Silver Spring, but that seems to be the only case of cross-jurisdictional service.

Gravatar This would great.

I have thought about routes very close to the Rhode Island route northwest of logan circle and the Pennsylvannia route in capital hill before. They seem perfect because the medians that are currently on those streets mean that BRT could be set up in a very short time with minimal cost.

I like the other lines too. I think the Massachusetts street car line coming from union station could go all the way to Dupont Circle and then turn onto New Hampshire and cut back to down to M street rather than turning on M at 14th. Massachusetts between Mt. Vernon Square and Dupont has a lot of apartment buildings that can be surprisingly far from transit for where they are in the city.

Gravatar Mass Avenue needs a streetcar line going its entire length. It would facilitate cross city travel which is a real problem here in DC.
A new subway line for Mass & NY Avenues is a very good idea.
Planners should be utilizing /considering our wonderful diagonal street system here in DC for streetcars and subway lines.Diagonal streets are only a bad thing if you are in a car.Otherwise- they are marks of LenFant's & Jefferson's [ and Cluss']genius in planning & building this city..
