Richard- thanks for alerting me to this show- I sent in a question regarding a DC veterans issue close to home for me.Here is the email I sent in to Kojo ;
My father's family has a very long history in DC- and we have a multi generational military service record going back to before the Civil War in DC. Of issue here- my father is now 86 and is a WW2 veteran. For many, many years he has complained that DC WW2 vets were never given Bonus Payments- which all of the vets from the 48 states plus Alaska & Hawaii were given - and also the US vets from the Philippines and other territories. This is a very nasty instance of the government ripping off men who fought and died for the USA who happen to be from DC. My dad is a disabled American vet, and still suffers the health effects from his service days- despite his advanced age. Why hasn't anyone looked into this issue ?
