It's not the MCI Center anymore; it has been the Verizon Center for quite a while. As someone who so openly gives their opinion and claims to be a consultant in Washington DC, you should know this. Mistakes like this detract from your credibilty and ethos (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethos).

Good luck.

cool out anonymous- everyone cannot be everywhere all of the time for everyone.I can tell you of many Native Washingtonians who have never set foot in the White House before. This is actually fairly common among us.Give him a little slack- Richard does a great job here.

Gravatar It makes sense to refer to it as the "MCI Center" in this context, as most of the revitalization occurred when it had that name.

Plus, locals develop a certain inertia when referring to their landmarks. You'll get some seriously dirty looks if you ask for directions to "Reagan National Airport."

Gravatar GhettoBurbs completely understands why I used that term very specifically. For example, see this entry, http:// urbanplacesandspaces.blog...complexity.html but I have written about these issues for oh 8 years...

Gravatar some of us still call CVS "People's Drug". Anyone who has been here more than 15 years would know what Im talking about.

Gravatar I refuse to refer to National Airport with its new R-based name. But then I don't call BWI Marshall Airport either.

Gravatar these damn sports arenas and stadiums change hands so often that it is a challenge to keep up.I jusy call the one in PG Jack Kent Cooke Stadium and ignore the new names when they are invented. It is kind of like dictators coming into power and renaming countries or cities. I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL THEY THROW OUT THE COMMUNISTS AND RENAME "BEJING" BACK TO PEKING !!!!!!!Same goes with Kampuchea, Leningrad, and Myanmar- all phony and un-necessary names foisted upon an unwilling public and a more willing and brainwashed media that casually accepts it all , just to make themselves seem more up to date or politically correct.

Gravatar Bring back Bombay and Rhodesia!

Gravatar Peking, Nepal, USSR, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia...

Gravatar .....Ceylon, Upper Volta.....

I know I'm just being silly now
