Gravatar Coordination? ha ha ha ha ha.

I would never get on a bike because now that I am old I would immediately die. That's why I walk. These bike things are made for young people who might actually jump on a bike.

Now that I have established my crabbiness bonafides, let me say this: Adshel=20 year contract =$50M; = funding for the "Great Streets" program.

Now, let's make sure we use the Adshel money to REALLY build "great streets".

Gravatar Ive been puzzled by the bike share program for Congress. I see a lot of the bikes not being used at all.many are in one of the giant surface parking lots at the foot of the Hill along old Canal Avenue[ Washington Avenue now]. In my opinion this program could be integrated into the Smart Bike program if they got their act in gear... make it all one system.

Gravatar I need to get a photo...

Gravatar one of the US Capitol police guys I had talked to in one of those booths told me that he actually has seen people using the bikes. I have not.

To me they appear to be un used.

Gravatar Richard, you state, "SmartBike DC program ... North America's first public bicycle sharing program modelled after successful programs in Europe such as Velib."

I must diaagree that SmartBike DC is modelled after Vélib. SmartBike might be modelled after Stockholm's City Bikes (they are after all both run by ClearChannel, I'm pretty sure), but Vélib is a different animal.

For an analysis of DC Smartbike vs. Vélib, see the following blog entry:

Gravatar German Rail [ DB ] has had a bike share program in place way before the French or the Danes but for some reason it is never or seldom acknowledged by Americans.
