"I don't understand why within the Home Rule Charter, so many citizen responsibilities, such as voting to approve bond funding, were removed from citizen oversight."
not only in this matter is the "home Rule" government oppressive to our DC citizens- but in the "Primary" elections- Independents are not allowed or even taken into consideration. How can these morons expect the feds to give DC ANYTHING when they hold back legitimate voters from the local process? This is totally outrageous- and as an example to the rest of the states- DC should have AN OPEN PRIMARY.

as for the expected life of a modern stadium-
Fed Ex Field looks like it has less than a 20 year life expectancy. Now there is talk of demolishing the thing and moving the Skins back to a new stadium in DC ......
Again- why is modern architecture so damn impermenant and crummy? Why can't they build things more longer lasting and with a better quality of materials ?And why does it always have to be so ugly? At least the Orioles Stadium has some nice brickwork and reuses an old building on the one side. It seems as if DC officials always go for the flashy garbage that falls down in 5 years.
Why is cheap and fast always seen as better ?
