Replacement Level Yankees Weblog Comments

If it turns out that they can't "fix" Kennedy, I hope it will give them pause about trusting "inside" information.

I prefer drafting high ceiling guys in the first round. Although I guess picking Chamberlain next mitigates the choice to a degree.

Gravatar On the one hand, I agree with you, on the other...there's something about Kennedy I just like.

Gravatar There's something about Dellin Betances I like better though...I just have this feeling about him more than the other guys...like he can be a star

Gravatar this is hardly a constructive comment, but i wish we could just fast forward about 2 years to find out what all of these prospects will amount to. who will be traded for a star? who will fizzle out? who will get hurt...and then fizzle out? who will surprise? who will disappoint?

looking at all of these guys with medium/high upside, we just have to keep in mind that there are far more christian parkers, drew hensons, and brandon claussens than wangs or canos.

Gravatar Welcome to MLB Scouting 101!

Gravatar Why should we worry about Kennedy or Betances we could get Kennedy 1 and Betances 9 we couldn't do the reverse.

Gravatar I don't think that any discussion of Kennedy can be complete without discussing his strikeout rate. This is a guy who struck out 11 per 9 in college and 13.4 per 9 in Hawaii. He could be a 9/9 guy in the majors, with good walk rates. I don't care how hittable his fastball is, he's going to be a very good pitcher if he does both.

Gravatar I've always wondered how Mussina's scouting report looked. He's always had that incredible k-curve, but he's a much different pitcher now than he was 10 years ago.

Gravatar Kennedy is a winner -- if, he's not hurt??? May have thrown to many pitches as a young West Coast pitcher..

He will be a Major Leaguer

Gravatar Heh - this looks funny now, no?
