Maybe the Dingo Ate Your Speech

Gravatar Read through his website and you might see some good ideas. I think he is referring to listening to the most vocal minority that are the NIMBY forces that stop things like secondary suites.

Gravatar Chantal,

He probably does have a lot of good ideas. it did read most of his site. my point was that his messaging seems a little off.

And your right, Calgary does have a big problem with nimby.

Are you working for Alnoor?

Gravatar I think the fact that you noticed the hexagon ads and posted on them, shows they're working.

And when council blabs on and never does anything, maybe we could use some more action.

Gravatar An ad does not work if it sends mixed or unintended messages. The issue isn't whether council talks or does'nt talk it is whether they do the right thing and are transparent.

Gravatar I agree, the messaging seems a little off. Perhaps even plagiarized (Elvis). So much for original ideas. Also, just for the sake of looking very smart, his logo-like object is an octagon rather than a hexagon.

Gravatar Alnoor Kassam seems to have the money to run a fairly expensive advertising campaign...is he paying for this himself? Or who is donating? As a former Kenyan I have to be somewhat suspicious of Mr. Kassam being in any position of authority as he is the man at the centre of one of the most notorious financial scandals ever to have taken place in that nation and is apparently still wanted on criminal charges by the Kenyan government. I lived through the months of watching ordinary Kenyans line up trying to get their small savings out of Kassam's defunct Trade Bank while a huge amount of money went missing and Kassam apparently manages to land on his feet here in Canada. Have you ever tried to get someone to lend you millions of dollars to buy a hotel or some such item? I suspect you need plenty of money on hand to do it. Kassam arrived in Calgary having purchased a downtown hotel. So did Kassam truly flee Kenya empty handed after escaping out the back of his home as arresting officials waited out front? Or did he have the money already outside of Kenya waiting to begin his new life while bank depositors lost their life savings?

I cannot make a judgement on Alnoor Kassam. He is without question a fantastic salesman. But nothing I have ever known of him suggests he is interested in anything but making big bucks...and so I have to wonder what the big opportunity is that he sees in becoming Mayor of Calgary. If Kassam becomes Mayor of this city I will seriously consider leaving on the grounds that Calgary will have entered the third world.

Gravatar No, I am an admin on the Dave Bronconnier for Mayor Facebook group. I just want this to be a campaign about issues!

Gravatar I'm personally concerned with the fact that he's a Muslim running his campaign using Hamas color green.
I don't want Sharia law creeping in the back door.

It also suprises me that Lou, mentions that Alnoor has been convicted of stealing from(his own) Kassam's defunct Trade Bank and fled Kenya to Calgary, and all you can talk about is the "Good ideas" he talks about?

Gravatar I have no concerns about Kassam being a muslim. Fear of muslims is a result of US propaganda and Sharia Law is not followed by the vast majority of muslims. To be frightened of muslims is to be ignorant in the most american of manners. Kassam is Ismaili and probably more western in his lifestyle than you are. It is his background as a business person that I am concerned with.

Gravatar There are already far too many crooked capitalists in the civic and provincial gov'ts here. We don't need one more who is a wanted fugitive from another country.
