I agree. All of the names of the military 'volunteers' should be made public. There are no conscripts and they can always get out. This is just a bunch of cowardly liberals that want a good paycheck but don't want to earn it. Making the military another arm of welfare is their drive.
Actually if they signed anything with their real name the will get out even if it takes a court order. Democrats banned secret organizations in the U.S. years ago and now they don't think there should be any Top Secret operations at the CIA, so why would the traitors think they're names would be kept secret.
Democratic flip flops are as comical as a circus.

You want names? Start with mine. But first, serve a little and learn just exactly what we have the "freedom" to do.
First of all the author of the blog himself states early on in the post that he knows "nothing about the military rules." And a good thing too, because if he did, he might have a better understanding of just what exactly things are like.
In the military, a soldier or sailor or airman lacks the basic First Amendment rights to self- expression. In essence, you give up your rights when you enlist in order to "defend America." Officers might have it even worse, with judicial and nonjudicial punishment for even speaking up against the policies of the current administration (no matter who the President is). I don't recall anyone making a big fuss when servicemembers and public alike complained loudly and at great length about former President Bill Clinton.
I would like to point out that while, no, I am not a conscript, I cannot just "get out" simply because I disagree. Believe me, I've tried. I am contractually obligated to serve and nothing short of a dishonorable action can stop that.
Thankfully the military laws also can protect me. While I lack the right to petition as a servicemember (whether in or out of uniform), I can apply for an appeal for redress. And that's all this is.
Call me a traitor. Call my phone. Send me emails. But know that even though I disagree with the war (and all violent conflict), I've still done more for you and yours by serving honorably than many in this country have.
"I might disagree with every word you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."

Machinist - thanks for your service but if you think that absolves you from any complicity with an anti-american group such as this then you are wrong. I didn't serve - I chose to be a Mom and work as a Registered Nurse for 25 years. But that doesn't mean that I cannot speak out when I disagree. Freedom of speech works both ways. And remember this - you volunteered for duty with the military knowing full well that meant fighting in war if called to.

Pardon me for not replying sooner, but I have been busy.
I am indeed curious to know how appealing to the government to pull our soldiers and sailors out of Iraq can be labelled as "anti-American." The very concept astounds me.
I serve because I love my country. I question my government because I love my country. The administration is not my country. I make that difference very clear.
If you could like, perhaps an invocation of the Freedom of Information Act could procure some more names.

Add my name to the list. But I'd like to know exactly what you would intend to do with the names if you had them. Or, more respectfully, what you think should be done in regards to those who have all filed a redress in coordination with the others who have signed on with the Appeal.
And it's no lie about the people who stay in for the sake of their family. I could go around my unit and easily find plenty of people who are likely going to Iraq for their third time, and wish so much that they had not re-enlisted, or that a thing such as Stop Loss never existed, so that they could actually look for a better means of supporting their families.
But back to the main issue. I'm seriously itching to know why people like you wanna see the names so badly. What exactly do you hope to accomplish? A media smear campaign? How ridiculous!

I will have to go along with the greater population of Europe and the rest of the world (including the Middle East), Americans are among the most uninformed and misinformed people on earth.

This is a site I began that uses the same mechanism in support of our mission and our military.
Nearly everyone you talk to here in Iraq supports the mission and Victory in Iraq. The 'other' appeal is a far left attack on our military that has learned to use a few military members as cover.
If you are currently serving military please sign the AppealForCourage and pass it on.

Robin,
Your article has no substance in regard to Hutto or his group.
You use innuendo & guilt by association to question the grass-roots nature of Appeal for Redress and the patriotism of the soldiers and sailors.
You have not cited ONE fact to support your allegations. All you have are your suspicions that NO ONE could possibly oppose US policy without being a traitor or a subversive. Did you see the soldiers and sailors (one of whom is career soldier on his way back to Iraq) on 60 Minutes? Do you have a blind faith in the failed Bush policies that does not allow you to entertain the real possibility that Americans of good sense, including soldiers putting their lives on the line, could conclude that the Iraq invasion was launched on a pretext (WMD and "growing threat") and then, was terribly managed. Based upon that conclusion they have decided to speak out - within their rights - against this unnecessary and ill-fated war and now, occupation.
Your article may resonate with your like-minded base, but itself carries no weight. It is just an attempt to smear people who disagree with you.
And for the record, I am a former Air Force officer (Aerospace Defense Command)- Viet Nam era.

Cuda - How can you "smear" someone with the facts or their own words? No innuendo - FACTS. This is nothing more than a group of winter soldier wannabes looking for their 15 minutes. They should be prosecuted for the war crimes they claim to have committed.

Really?
Let's look at your very first assertion:
"The "Appeal for Redress" group is sponsored by three of the most virulent anti-war groups..."
Where is the fact that shows that Appeal for Redress is "sponsored" by the other groups? This is the first assertion you make. Where is the proof of it?

Michael - I did a post of Liam Madden when 60 Minutes did their little lovefest. I hold him in the same level of disdain as I do Hutto.
