Gravatar You know darn well God put those fossils there 6,000 years ago, to test our faith.

Gravatar If I'm not mistaken, this was down San Francisco way, correct? You're up in Oregon now?

Gravatar This stretch of beach is inbetween Capitola and New Brighton beach on the central coast of California. We're up in Washington now on the Olympic Peninsula. Haven't found the fossil beds around here yet, but you know we're definitely looking for them.

Gravatar Those are estraordinary pictures. Actually the fossils themselves are extraordinary. And now they're gone from view. Aren't you glad you got the pics? I wonder if anyone will get the chance to study them. Your pictures could be valuable to science, so take care of them.

Gravatar The fossils in the cliff face are still there, and when the sand shifts, which it does occasionally some of these larger vertebrate fossils reappear. There are other vertebrate fossils still visible when the tide is low, even when the sand is high. We have some photos that show the sand levels coming back up and the fossils receding from view. Quite a place.

Gravatar Amazing photographs. Thanks

Gravatar Beautiful photos! Thanks so much for sharing!

Gravatar Lovely. Makes me want to hop in the car.

Gravatar i googled "purisima fossil santa cruz" and the eleventh website listed was yours. i have been researching the formation to determine the abundance of material. fossil collection is allowed on the beach in capitola so i think i am legit in picking up the purisima with imbedded shells. i make jewelry from these stones and they are amazing to me. each unique. ancient. wonderous. the information in your blog was interesting. what a cool day that was on the beach to see the vertebrate relics within the sandstone and siltstone. i immediately recognized your web address on the google search and thought it was a lovely coincidence!
