Gravatar I love love love White-tailed Kites. They are so beautiful and so quickly identified -- that hover is amazing. Sounds like a fantastic hike.

Gravatar good idea. i walked home from work in the (briefly) gentle rain today. have a peaceful weekend.

Gravatar Great pictures as usual, you two have a great weekend as well. I really like these pictures you have been taking of Santa Cruz. It reminds me of when N and I used to visit there. I still wish I could have gone to school there, love the campus.

Gravatar Woke up to an ice storm here in SW Virginia. No sign of spring today.

Of course with our roller coaster weather, they are forecasting high 50s for tomorrow.

The kite is breathtaking. The wild keeps looking back at you.

Gravatar I have never seen a kite before. Beautiful bossy-looking thing.

Gravatar I think the wild is checking YOU out. The feathery ones in Wa. probably put it out on the bird wire to keep an eye on you. Kites are beautiful. I wonder how they keep so clean.

I walked my granddaughter to school this morning. It's 14 above. A heat wave! Yet not even a hint of spring.

Once again thanks for the pictures of your days.

Later,

Gravatar The hawks do look a little ruffled. You may be right about them. It looks like they're sharing an 'after' smoke.

Later,

Gravatar I've seen the red, but that white tailed hawk is awesome. I may have seen one at a falconing event, but never out on a walk!
Amazing
and gorgeous!

Gravatar We're getting our dose of rain from the storm you had earlier in the week. At least it's not snow {or, darn- it's not snow - depending on where your head's at}

Too much working, and not enough hiking around here lately! I'm starting to feel cooped up in the house. Your pics of the raptors are a breath of clean air.

Gravatar I'm another one here who was unaware of such a beautiful little hawk...WOW ! WHERE was this hike? It couldn't have been at your house....that close? Capitola or Big Basin St Park maybe? I was inspired by the raptor viewing! We're thrilled EVERY time we see them out on Sauvie Island. Signs of spring, eh? Hah! We're SOLID mud with this La Nina winter. Snow's GONE, and MORE rain = mud. I'll grant the daffodils are popping up slightly, but March seems a ways away in this WET weather. I whine, but that's Northwesterners do from March to the end of June, eh?

Gravatar love the birds once again R and R. the Kites are amazing, did you get to see it kiting? I see them in oregon when we go, but have not seen them up here, though people spot them on occasion. Our hawks and chickadees are starting to snuggle up and thinking of starting families here too. Have a great weekend.

Gravatar The crows are getting irritable up here in Seattle, swooping at the cat, yelling at us, so we've been speculating about it nearing mating season. They aren't anywhere near as handsome as those raptors, too familiar.
We're tending to hibernate around here...

Gravatar just picturing those hawks and chickadees snuggling . . . baby hawkadees?

Gravatar Spring? It's a familiar word but . . .

I see a lot of harriers down by Roundrock.

Gravatar "We saw signs of spring everywhere."

Thank you for these glimpses of spring.

Gravatar Ah, yes, I go for a walk most days, and sometimes take pictures like I did of the Eagle the other day, and the bird yesterday.

Gravatar I like birds, but I wish they would not shit on my rig.

Gravatar Mother Nature gives the greatest gifts if we just keep an eye out for them. On our trip across the state this week we saw a bald eagle just soaring around looking for a soul to steal. Or in the words of the eagle, he was searching for lunch.

Gravatar It's a beautiful sunny day here in Kentucky. It won't be long till spring!

Gravatar We're at -2° right now. Want to trade? Sounds like you had a beautiful walk. Enjoy the weekend.

Gravatar Never seen a kite before! That would have been so awesome to see! Thanks for sharing!

Gravatar Wow! Kites! They are really something special. I'm jealous.

Gravatar I've seen your name in comments, but never visited your site.
Sorry to be so slow on the uptake. My loss.

Never seen kites.
We're off to spot raptors today--I hope.

But, I'll be back.

Gravatar Great pictures. I was expecting to see a human made kite

Gravatar Love the kites! Such graceful hunters.
