Take care, but don't miss the beauty, sometimes it's worth the risk! I know that I sometimes do things that I shouldn't in regards to a bad back and knees, but on the other hand, how I would hate to miss the beauty!!
Enjoy, Robin!

I don't know how you can hike when you back is bothering you. When mine is strained, it's hard to get up out of a chair and walk to the bathroom. Take care.

I can feel the pull of the out of doors. Maybe the walk helps your back - it sure helps your heart and soul.

Our place in Twain Harte/Cedar Ridge was surrounded by ditches. They all led down into Columbia, Calif.

What a sweet hummingbird in the manzanitas! Hummingbirds are good medicine, as are walks in the fall.
"The birds are the fine points, stabilizers, like the seas and the stars."

What synchronicity! ---just got new grownup walking shoes to make the trail easier. As a result, my feet feel broken---two hours on----eight hours wrapped in heat and ice. Wonder if I should go back to those old cheap Big 5 ones that have held together so long? And, sadly, we found one of those little iridescent green fellows on the flagstones yesterday---so very tiny, its eyes closed and as light as a flower petal. He now is buried beneath a gardenia bush and a heart-shaped rock.

You've given me a new motto: How will you know if you don't get out there and take a look and listen? It will justify my walks when I should be cleaning house.
Thanks

Hope your back improves... not an easy thing to cure. I often start out "researching a post" and then get entirely lost for hours in the stream of information. Hope Roger enjoyed

Aw, what a great hummingbird picture. I haven't gotten any good pictures of them for a while. Good thing you post them, because they are so much fun to look at. I'm glad your back is getting better. It's been raining so much, here, if it sunshines, we have to get out, too.
