Gravatar Indigo sounds like a lovely person. Not surprising, being Roger's daughter. I'm so glad you are all so near each other now, and glad that you know how lucky you all are. Do post photos of her garden, we'd all love to see it.

Gravatar He's pretty. I've never seen one. That garden sounds amazing.

Gravatar I have seen them. They are delightful little birds. I have also seen a Mountain bluebird -- also delightful. Sounds like an amazing day -- gardening with bluebirds! Wonderful!

Gravatar Who could ask for anything more?

(I could: a lovely home for you two; but, that will come!)

Gravatar Peace to you.
A lot of changes in the last year, you seem to flow with them even through the upheavals.
I am waiting for summer up here in Washington State, me and my brand new garden.
Best wishes,

Busted.

Gravatar Indigo rocks! Oh yeah.

The birds are such different colors. Is the one with all the yellow a female?

Later lucky ones,

Gravatar That sounds like my kind of garden, yum. We have eastern bluebirds in our neighborhood, but I do miss the western variety.

Gravatar I've never been west of the Mississippi, so I have never seen one. They look lovely, but a bit more muted than their eastern cousins.

Gravatar No, I haven't seen one, except in photos. Beautiful colours.
Great gardening arrangement. Yes, take photos. I spent yesterday transplanting seedlings into my vegetable garden (the Fire Garden). Now I'm looking forward to fresh produce!

Gravatar Although I have seen mountain bluebirds before, I've neve seen a western bluebird. They're lovely.

Gravatar Nope. Never. Pretty things.

Gravatar What a delightful garden picture you painted with words.

We don't have bluebirds here at the farm and I wish we did. Parapluie though, who has a blog and posts on mine often, has painted the western bluebirds often and I bought one of them for each of my grandchildren because I found them so delightful. She and her husband have several nesting pairs. Their home is about 20 miles or so (as a bird flies) from here, but in different kind of terrain.

When we stayed in Montana a few summers ago, the house had some nesting boxes with mountain bluebirds raising up their young in them. At night we would sit out in the porch or the chairs, watch them and photograph them as they entered the box bringing food for their offspring. It was endlessly fascinating. I love their song.

Gravatar how perfect! bluebirds and tomatos! I leaving for your area right now! LOL!
lovely photos Robin!

Gravatar lovely lil' creatures, they are.

All the veggies sound yummy! Freshly dug potatoes are the best!

You are indeed blessed, and you spread the love around generously. Dat's why yer da bums.

Gravatar We saw vivid bluebirds down on the slopes of Mt. Ashland near Ashland, Oregon, and I've seen them near Smith Rock, in Redmond, Oregon; those are probably Western ones. We saw some in the Tetons, too, which were Mountain ones, I think.
If you are up around dawn, you can hear their distinctive calls.
Oh, me. It's been so awful here, I have been too bummed to plant anything. Glad you are thriving.

Gravatar hooray for bluebirds and homegrown tomotoes. there's an old kfat/kpig ditty about homegrown tomatoes-remember?

Gravatar My goodness, they are gorgeous little birds!

How lucky you are that you have someone who understands your need for fresh veggies. And artichokes! Can't grow them out here and I love the things. How depressing to think that I'll never, ever taste a fresh-from-the-garden artichoke. I hope someday you have a post describing in detail the experience of eating freshly-picked artichoke (complete with recipe for how you prepared it!).

Gravatar I've been out west twice, but both times predate my interest in birds. They look very similar to the Eastern variety... I'll have to go look for sound files to see if they sound different or not!

Gravatar What a stunning bluebird this bird is. I would love to see one some day.

Gravatar BEAUTIFUL BIRDS - - - - I had NO idea that kind of beautiful color was there. Thanks, Robin.......and congrats about your shared garden with Indigo. That will be FUN it seems to me to be sharing it together.

Gravatar I''m impressed! I'm a little jealous. Wonderful pix!! (I stumbled over here from Everybody Knows...)

Gravatar Guiltily enjoying the bounty of the garden Robin and Roger planted and didn't eat. I brought beets to a choir potluck last night, and we've been nibbling the last of the asparagus. The carrots are just getting big - had to thin ones so we've got thin little babies now. The peas have yet to flower, though my peas at the old house in town are already starting to bear - planted earlier, or just lucky?

We had a hummingbird inside the greenhouse on Sunday - the power was out (truck hit a phone pole on the highway - very odd to have a power outage on a bright sunny summer day) so I had to open the windows to vent since the fan wouldn't work. And a hummingbird came in. I was despairing on how to get it out, but a visit back later that evening and it was gone.

Your garden lives on - the artichokes are getting bigger, and the spinach is thinking about bolting but being persuaded to hang on a bit longer...
