Gravatar Benjamin, thanks for pointing me to the best bulbs to get the effect of blue spectrum light that stirs creativity and problem solving. Looks like it's a fairly new product. Do you anticipate full spectrum bulbs in chain stores soon?

I so agree that you'd not want one of these around when it's getting time to wind down and go to sleep!

Thanks for stopping by, Benjamin. Great to discover your blogs!

Gravatar What are probably really after is 'full spectrum' bulbs. These simulate normal day light which is, as you say, much richer in the blue spectrum. It also has a broader range of light frequencies. CLFs (compact fluorescent light bulbs) do have a slightly broader spectrum than traditional household lighting, but full spectrum light is broader still. You can find them via eBay (check out the seller's credentials first) and specialist lighting shops. They make a huge difference to your energy levels. Highly recommended! Only one thing to watch :- they aren't good for ambient evening light, just before you want to sleep!

Gravatar Anna, blue light rays are likely to keep you awake, too. Perhaps that is why you feel supercharged when there's a bright light - your brain is really energized.

Hmmm... you would want a different kind of light in the evening - that's for sure.

Gravatar Hi Robyn, interesting post. On the other hand, I have this problem with light in general. I don't like anything bright. When there is lot of light, I feel supercharged and then I get tired quickly. But that blue light concept sounds interesting, may be I will try it one day...Anna

Gravatar Oh, oh, Brad. I used the blue bulb to emphasize the blue rays. Cool flourescent rays do the trick! Newer energy saving flourescent bulbs emit these rays, while other flourescent lights emit rays from the yellow spectrum, which imitate incandescent bulbs.

Maybe another image at the bottom will clear up my message...

Just want to be sure you're using the right bulbs... I'm with you that very blue ones would darken our surroundings.

Gravatar That's a new one! Can't say as I ever worked with blue light. Seems like it would be hard to see. But based on your recommendation, I'll give it a try.
