Mr. Westacott, even the name "Adoration, Full Sail" intrigues my imagination. I'm going to check out Ryan Farish's music!
Thanks for the suggestion and do stop by again. I enjoy hearing what folks have to say. It's like picking your brain.

I am from the UK.
I find that music by the likes of Ryan Farish assists one's own personal concentration - applying only to certain pieces however. Existith those pieces hereunder these names; Adoration, Full Sail.

f.bordewijk I found music really gave me more flow as I write. Especially Bach. Enya worked in a similar manner.
I have to admit, that I am curious about how familiar music impacts this focus. I'm going to research this more and will let you know... Maybe another blog.

I mostly listened to Haydn's string quartets when I was studying at university, butthen I also listened to Thelonious Monk!
Isn't it more the case that familiar music, familiar in the sense that it is ingrained into our culture, creates security and continuity, thereby enhancing learning?

Hi Dan, I visited your site today and was quite intrigued by your insights. Great to hear that baroque music works well for you when you study. No doube you can now see what goes on in your brain to bring that about. Isn't it great how we all have different pieces to bring to the table! Thanks for your comment.

I wrote a brief chapter in my book, Learning For Profit, concerning the benefits of studying with Baroque music playing quietly in the background. It works for me!
My favorite is Vivaldi's Four Seasons.
