Joanna, I, too, saw the hand in glove fit to writing as I developed this.
I'm putting it on the back burner for awhile. It's amazing how many pieces are floating around in the old noodle at present

Robyn, I love this. It made me look at my outline again for a workshop I'm leading this weekend. 75% is a great litmus test.
I want to add physical movement and high play, pointed improvisation, etc., as tools that can help anchor the learning through the body too. Get those blue suits unstuffed! Love incorporating all that for (we) overscheduled snoozers.

I think I've snoozed through those lectures Robyn!
It was interesting, when I read this I thought about ways that we can/should apply these lessons to our writing - and they're a pretty neat fit

Michelle, hooking the lecture topic to what folks already know is a true starting place. It can also come through their curiosity at the outset... I so agee that folks need to be drawn in initially or you lose them throughout. Facilitation takes a lot more skill as far as, hooking, pacing, keeping folks' interest and focus, and variation of meaningful activities that lead to acheivement of goals.
Thanks for your expertise... many ingredients go into this mix and spices really count to make a tasty main course!

Robyn,
Yes, I agree. I do a lot of training in a niche subject which has a large knowledge transfer component. We try to offer it in small chunks followed by reflection, interaction, or application.
I find we really don't know something until we can hook it to something we already know. The ah-ha moment comes when that happens. So, if you don't allow time for people to locate their brain hook (throught reflection, dicussion, exercises), you might as well be throwing the information on the floor and it will be gone like yesterday's newspaper.
Regards,
