Robyn I think you are correct, because every time I pass my site, I say wow this need work soon - I only have one page. Thanks, here is the site www.selektainc.com if you want to see lot of red, lol. Anna

Hi Anna, red is a very vibriant color that calls for attention. When I see it, I kind of expect some up front action since it sort of stops me in my tracks. What do you think?

Galba, the exercise here has proved lots of fun. People have enjoyed sharing their wisdom on the topic and I love to see that come out in delightful conversation. There's much more than meets the eye when it comes to color! Emotion plays a part, too. Thanks for your suggestion for a follow-up.

Shantanu, if you use photos, white doesn't fight with them whereas other colors might. White is actually the presence of all color and black the absense of all color. Perhaps that even sheds more light on what you say, Shantanu.

Terry, what you say indicates that you tend to "trust your gut" to make decisions. Believe it or not, a first decision on the spot works well because the brain bring quickly collects past experiences related to your present choice. If you second guess, you may not make the best decision. Seems like you are happy with your final choice!

Hi Roby, thanks for sharing all this with us, it is quite useful, I will check it out definitely. I have business site that I been thinking how to set it up for a while, believe or not it is red, and I think I made that one page up in red, is more like stop and don't proceed because I am busy now. Thanks for sharing again, I will be back to check those sites out, they seem very interesting. Anna

Hello Robyn:
I was familiar with some of the blogs you mentioned and I clicked through to some others to make it an interactive lesson. It's a very evocative and engaging article.
I think blue is a no-brainer choice for my field. I wonder if you'll do a follow up about how colour and typeface interact to create emotion? Thank you for the link. I appreciate it.

Very interesting! I chose white primarily because I use a lot of photos in my posts and any other color (I thought) would make the page look too busy. Death & sorrow -- you are right, In India white can signify purity as well as mourning.

Chris since I did not have a clear meaning for blue green, I need to make adjustments. But please do realize that AOL uses blue-green as their color choice after much research and they're not about to switch. So it's truly a winner!

Hi Robyn - A fascinating insight indeed! I have to admit I didn't give my choice of colors on my blog a lot of thought, but maybe my dear brain still knew me well enough to make a quick choice that worked for me, Interesting.......
Thanks, and all the best.

Hi Robyn - what a fascinating insight. I remember clearly why my designer, Sara and I chose orange. She came to visit me to discuss designs. That day I was wearing a bright orange sweater. It was a colour I rarely wore but so many people commented on how much I suited it when I did that Sara and I decided that it had to have something important to say about me...and the rest is history. Now coupled with your explanation I know it was a great choice.
Thank you so much.

Robyn:
Thanks so much for mentioning me. I'm especially intrigued because you have my blog listed as the first one in blue and here I always thought I had a "green" blog. I bet the monitor that I've been looking at it with is different in resolution than the one you use.
Thanks so much for including my blog!!

Only Robyn McMaster could come up with an incredible post like this. I had to laugh, too, because I've changed my blog's looks about as often as I buy shoes...but I always gravitate to oranges, blues and greens.
Curious, that.

Michelle, sounds like you made a good choice. Leva Duell, a design expert says "There are companies that have spent a lot of money researching what colors work the best to their business - you won't find AOL using a TAN color anywhere - they stay with Blue and Blue Green for a reason."
Great choice!

I had to laugh, Gavin, because I have wardrobes from the 60's. You might be intested to know my daughter once told me that I wore too bright colors. Actually I'd love a new header. I just have to move my brain and think how to make a header for this Google blog since their packaged choices are limited.

I had this topic in my brain a couple of months ago and began to simmer it on the back burner. But it was never quite cooked until I had the "aha" to link bloggers to the color choices. Then I moved forward with gusto!

Robyn,
Can you get more bang for your buck if you use a blend? My header is tealish - combining blue and green. Does that mean I get the best of both worlds or am I diluting my color message? Hmmm
