"This canal connects to all the others in the area, feeding farm irrigation, livestock watering and eventually feeding back into the Euphrates river."
I guess that doesn't sound so bad in a Dow-Chemical kind of way until one estimates the millions and millions upstream of you who are dumping their excrement, kitchen and yard waste, and industrial effluent into the river too.

Just goes to show that modern technology and life really are better for the environment.

Environmental consciousness is a luxury that these people aren't willing to pay for. And it isn't free.

yuk.. I guess the best business should be drinking water.
do you still use your nikon? if your looking for a camera with good battery life, i suggest the Kodak DX6490. eight whole days and i didn't have to charge it. it was great!

Yes. I still use the Nikon coolpix.
I take it everywhere. I only get a bit annoyed by the startup time. I sometimes miss good shots because the camera hasn't booted in time. The battery saver feature causes it to auto-shut-down between pictures, so more start-up time.
