WGME in Portland Me. is a Sinclair station. Ask Mark "Ratface" Hyman about this too. I'd like to see them loose a license or two, that's just a personal opinion, not a fact or name so no SLAPs, Marky.

Payola is payola.
But he's really really really really sorry and promises NEVER EVER to do it again and since we are a good Christian nation --we will forgive him as national fcc policy.

"These criminal penalties bring violations within the purview of the Department of Justice…"
We can be certain that Mr. Gonzalez, following his confirmation and ascendancy will no doubt be all over this like insurgents descending on unguarded arms depots.

i shall be so bold and paste herein my slightly revised and condensed version of the letter suggested by "Roger."
i flipped up each address individually and just made one email addressed to all of them. saves on ... you know ... everything
anyway, this may be easier to get more people to send. i believe that as much of an assault by the "common folk" (as one of whom i proudly stand) on the powers of be -- particularly by "official" communication (we ain't the ukraine, unfortunately) the better.
here goes:
Dear Commissioner Powell., et al.:
As you are hopefully aware, "media pundit" (according to his website http://www.armstrongwilliams.com...es/default.asp)
Armstrong Williams acknowledges that he accepted from Secretary of Education Rod Paige or his Department at least $240,000 to broadcast propaganda regarding the "No Child Left Behind" Act and failed to disclose the payment to the stations on which the matter was broadcast and, ultimately more

well, i exceeded the 1800 words .. too bad because the balance of the "piece" is sort of essential to the first part ...
get my own site, i guess (hahaha)
anyway, anyone want the full text of my revisions to the letter which can easily be sent as one email to all can be obtained by emailing me a request.
also, you missed my rant on officially changing democratic party affiliation to independent with your local election officials but, again, i guess i should get my own site if i have such an enormous amount to say.

i've been traeling for two days --the above reference to "my own site" sounds very snotty -- no snottiness meant! i in fact apologize for eating up all this space for which i pay nothing but from which i receive much.
cheers.

I know it's a small point, but can Rod Paige let such a substantial contract using our tax dollars without it being competitively bid? I mean, legally.

Who would ever take money from the U.S. government to just turn around and brainwash Americans with their own money? It's too shocking to believe.
I would never do such a thing. And that ain't no lie...

Gee,the right winger media using taxpayer monies for propaganda pieces. I'm shocked I tell ya,shocked!!!!! i thought the right winger media hated all forms of taxpayer subsidies. I guess that doesn't include propaganda at the taxpayers expense, yet they'll ramble on incoherently about the "mistakes" at CBS news.

I've just sent my complaint to Michael Powell.
This isn't just a matter of violation of FCC regulations. There is a federal statute involved, which makes it far more serious. It is the US Attorney's responsibility, in addition to the FCC, to prosecute this. The US Attorney works for the Justice Department. He needs to know we're watching whether he is selectively enforcing the law and protecting Administration officials. After all, he is a politcal appointee.
May I suggest that since both US Code statutes, and FCC regulations within Part 73 are involved, that complaints also be directed to Kenneth Wainstein, US Attorney for the District of Columbia:
Mr. Kenneth L. Wainstein
United States Attorney for the District of Columbia
555 4th Street NW
Washington, DC 20530
Since the Department of Education is located in the District, and since Armstrong Williams bases his operation there, Mr. Wainstein should have jurisdiction.
Perhaps 25,000 letters will get his att
