I also wrote them. They confirmed it's true and also said the personahandling it erred and should not have released so many details - it violates their privacy policy. However, it is not a scam -- if someone knows Nahum Almagor they should contact Gift of Life.

On February 28, 2002 Penn Hillel had a drive for the Gift of Life Bone
Marrow Foundation and a person who participated in that drive is now a
possible match for a 48 year old male that is suffering from Acute
Myelogenous Leukemia.

The Gift of Life is urgently trying to reach this person.
His name is Nahum Almagor. The last known address on file we have for this
donor is in Suffern, NY & a phone # of 845-369-7804. The donor's date of
birth is 8/22/1964. A search of 411.com revealed an address of 1524 E 12th
St in Brooklyn, which seems to be no longer valid.

If you know how to reach this person, please contact Ms. Kimberlie Marcial
at kmarcial@giftoflife.org or at 1-800-962-7769 ext. 2935.

It may be a matter of life and death of the 48 year old male. Please
circulate this e-mail; perhaps someone knows how to reach Nahum Almagor.

Thanks very much,
Shawn Zelig Aster
Assistant Professor, Department of Bible
Yeshiva College
(former grad student at Penn and co-ordinator of bone marrow drives at Penn Hillel

Dear All: Thanks for all of your help. I have received a message from Gift
of Life Foundation asking people to CEASE writing to them regarding Nahum
Almagor. They have found him, and there are apparently other reasons as
well for calling off the search. Please therefore, ask people to STOP
CIRCULATING the search e-mails. Thanks very much!
Tizku Le Mitzvot,
Shawn Zelig Aster

Thanks Jack.

Whoever posted Aster's letter...isn't that exactly my point?

And for Aster's 2nd comment...let Gift of Life post something on their website about it then.
