First there has to be someone in that "several hundred employees in Oz" who is aware of there even BEING a designated beginning to each of the seasons, never mind being aware of the actual dates.

In my experience of the "educated class" it is quite possible none of Google's Oz-based staff have a clue, or care.

Also, Australia does not have native deciduous trees, like that shown in the picture. It has just been a cut-and-paste from last year's US Google site, I'd guess.
