I hope that they seriously considered taking out the other rook because it was unclear which side it was on before they made the decision to go after the pawn. I'd hate to think that we are profiling all the black pieces as "bad".

The rooks are not the solution, they are the problem! If they simply appeased the pawn and let it move 2 more times, the black team would never have even attacked!

Clearly the white team is being too agressive with the black team (aka the team of peace).
