speaking of getting kilns, I am writing a grant to build a gas kiln at my studio. If I get the grant can everyone keep their ears open for salvage materials I could pick up at a good price? Hope to start building in September after I go to John Britt's kiln workshop.I loved seeing the gas kiln at Clayworks loaded on Becky's blog, reminded me of some good times there! I forgot how big that thing is.

Thanks Ang.

Ron, I think i have now had around 20 firings of my gas kiln, and it was only on the last one that i feel i have gained full control, not one pot had bubbled glaze on the edge, and some of the bare clay had some very nice flashing on them, which gives them so much character. The main things i did different this time were, i pulled the burners further away from the firebox so that it would suck in more air and the max PSI i went up to was 7. Dont give up hope on the gas kiln to early, as Bon Jovi says, " keep the faith".

Paul, I didn't take you as a Jon Bon Jovi fan. I used to be in a rock band in the 80's and our lead singer looked just like JBJ.
Anyhow, I won't give up. I will get it worked out. In the mean time I can't afford to have 20 or so not so good firings. Hence the electric kiln.
Thanks for the tips about the burners etc. Funny you say you used 7 psi, I am not even needing to get 1 psi to take this kiln to temp. Of course it's different burners, etc.
I think I too could increase my air intake a bit.
Anyhow I'll keep you posted on how it all goes.
