Ron - I was just thinking about this very same thing this morning. I took an art marketing class 1.5 years ago and the instructor told us that it might be wiser to pay a professional to do the work that we're not well versed in such as web and graphic design, accounting, photography etc. because of the exact point you make about it freeing up time for us to make the work which is probably smarter financially and more time efficient to boot.
I'm too far invested and mired into my website/blog now, but I definitely struggle with accounting and the business end of things. In the beginning I took on these tasks out of pure necessity - lack of funds - I preferred to reinvest the money I did earn from the sale of my work in buying new equipment and supplies. At some point in time, I would like to farm accounting, tax preparation and photography for select work to a professional.
Even though I have only taught kids, I think I get as much out of the act of teaching as they do from the sheer enjoyment of touching clay.
Wow!! Ron, I can hardly believe it....You are going to leave something for someone else to do! For the rest of you, it is like pulling teeth to get Ron to allow someone else to do some work for him. Sometimes we just have to admit that we can't do it ALL! Tee hee. Love to you sweetheart, Sarah
oh leaving the fray of 'we can do it all ourselves', prob a good rationale ron you need to keep making those lovely pots...and one day I'll be able to buy one, by the way absolutely loved the big jar on the vid - fish cart bird s and flowers. because I'm partly versed in all of the above I only get in the 'profs' if I have no idea, but then I'm freelance anyway so have some more time on my hands..
