An true song of EXISTENSIALISM... never had anyone put so much pathos in a song before Jonathan in "I'm straight".
The landscape is grey, we are on a campus , there is the computer center and that damned telephone and nobody answers. Hippie Ernie has managed to pull Jonathan's bird , it's a disgrace.
Jonathan is in this early song clearly exposing his philosophy of life :
-life has nothing to do with drugs and alcohol, life has to do with girlfrens, sex and girlfrens..

The Silos do a terrific version of this song on their album "Susan Across The Ocean". Check out also the track "Let's Take Some Drugs And Drive Around" on the same disk. Interesting pairing, huh?

assume it was a genuine situation - but doesn't it just survive as a song?! has the same feel as dignified and old for probably the same reason, way it started
as opposed to say hospital which sounds more composed to me - though in the same vein and a good _song_
