Gravatar Will you be posting info on the LP version, which Amazon says releases in mid-May? The always-hopelessly-out-of-date Vapor site is no help -- they still haven't even mentioned the soundtrack to Revolution Summer!

Gravatar with JR's thick Boston accent he tends to lose his ending 'r's

i'm pretty sure that he's singing 'we'll bring our water' rather than marijuana

in a song about ashes covering everything the inclusion of water seems kind of significant (seawater and otherwise)

Gravatar you are right RB, I did not understand Jonathan correctly and it is definitely "we are bringing our own water.." or should I say "we are bringin ouuuur aaawn waaaatah

Gravatar I really like this - the mood is almost resigned and accepting of the beauty of the decay of age....that sounds a bit pretentious, but it does. It's his darkest album since the early Modern Lovers' stuff, but I think it's going to be one of my favourites of recent times.

Gravatar To those of us in the UK - I have just received a meassage from Amazon.co.uk telling me that my copy has just been posted so I should have it tomorrow (on my birthday!)

Gravatar This album is great! Jonathan Richman is still making fresh music decades and decades after he started.
My favorite song is definitly "the lovers are here and their full of sweat." The line "well of course they smell a little, they didnt bring no change of clothes" and then he sings on the off beat "isnt that them lyin' there in the youth hostel, laughing in the snow" almost makes you wanna cry!

Gravatar I was glad to hear what you guys thought of the CD. I agree this is a departure from the last few Cds, and I'm still not sure what I think of it. (Though I like it more than I did when I got it). O put my review on my blog a few days ago: http://chimaerandi.livejournal.c...l.com/ 9143.html

I think I like it more now, especially certain songs. The departure threw me for a loop, though.

Gravatar I'm waiting on the vinyl to arrive, if only to find out what's on the 7".

Gravatar "Well if the music's gonna move me,
well first it's gotta have a beat,
no I don't want to sit down all night,
I've, I've gotta feel it in my feet..."

- Jonathan Richman, 1989

I'm sorry to say that I haven't felt that Jonathan's albums have moved me, or have been "action packed" since "I'm So Confused" in 1998.

But maybe I can appreciate his more recent albums for what they are, and not dwell on what they are not. Still, I miss the optimism, humor, electric guitar, and catchy hooks.
