Wonderful, you will love the west. You went one province too far, but hey, BC is still great.
This is a great move for a young family, you are moving from a stagnate province to one bursting with youth and energy. Good luck, you can still blog occasionally, late at night when you need "your" time.
Good luck with the move Raphael. Vancouver is definitely a nice place to live. The Grouse Grind is one of the things I miss the most about moving to the Okanagan.

We swapped Montreal for BC last summer and aren't regretting it yet. We drove across (as a family of four) .... I don't think I'd recommend it in March, however.

If you thought the "The traffic here is literally like slow torture" you'd better buy a place close to work.
Raph, when you get a moment, your blog platform is misbehaving, again. And it has nothing to do with Firefox. I'm on IE.
You are moving a long way. Remember to save all yor receipts, travel, meals, hotels, cost of selling your home/breaking a lease ect, plus 2 wks stay in a hotel with meals at your new location. If your car breaks down, repairing it is a moving expense. Need new tires, get them while travelling. If you do not make enough from your new job during the year to cover all these, carry them fwd to next year.
And, if you are using a moving company, make sure you get a firm written quote. If using a U-haul, that is also deductible.

Welcome to the West Coast, Raphael. We moved to Victoria in 2003 and have loved it ever since. Just got back from vacation last week and the cherry blossom is out, the daffodils are up and spring is in air. (That was especially for all you folks still at the Centre of the Universe.)
Good luck with the move, and hope you get the blog back up again soon - look on it as therapy for the stress of moving.

Welcome to Vancouver. We're moving in the opposite direction in July - but we're going to miss a lot. Only suggestion I have - get a bike - don't even attempt driving here.

I hear you. I was in the same boat years ago when I just couldn't take Toronto (and Ontario) anymore and decided to go West -- I have not regretted my decision.
Eastern and Central Canada have become way too narrow (in every sense of the word!), and for freedom-loving, independent thinkers, anything west of Alberta is simply wrong.
