Gravatar Visited your blog after quite some time. This was a well written post from you.
Well I agree with most of what you say when comparing IIM and ISB. Used to face something like this when IIIT-H and IIT's were compared

I but was not somehow convinced about the point of "building an institution." Well the example did not sound concrete. I had been to IIMA this weekend to meet a dear friend of mine studying there and got to look at with some detail and also met a couple of students there as well.

Nonetheless a well written post

Gravatar I was meaning to give an example of students having the space, freedom and chance to build something new, start a tradition, a culture than will be carried forward. The idea was, there is so much to be left done before ISB can become a world class institution and there is a chance. There is wholehearted support from the management, support from the industry and a great student body to work with. An older school will have most of itself established. The chance to innovate and start something very new is what I believe makes ISB exciting.

Gravatar This sounds good !!!

Gravatar Hi Ramki,Could'nt agree more with your last three statements.Undoubtedly,IIMs are a class of their own but that in no way should mean ISB cannot aspire to be "better than the best" to quote Sansui's ad..
And be it ISB or IIM , what matters at the end of the day are those very skills you mentioned in your blog.
You people at ISB are doing a great job in spreading the awareness amongst people about ISB,its ideals, the positives, challenges etc.... Keep it going guys, it is helping people in more ways than one.

Gravatar Ramki,
The write-up was good, but some issues. You cant just compare IIM's considering that they get top IB's or consultants. With 1000 students across all IIM's, percentage of IB/top consultants are pathetically low. Maybe 25-40 in an year. What about the rest 960 students? Compare the opportunities for the majority of the IIM's with the majority of the ISB. Again, as you said, it makes no sense comparing apples with oranges. ISB was established for a different purpose (to make money) than IIM's (to encourage and develop managerial talent in the country). Student profiles determine everything in a b-school and here ISB and IIM's are far apart. Finally, as a self-publicity my blog is www.geocities.com/sathishvm and I am first year student at IIMK.
