Asssumm....pretty neat analysis on tht...actually I too was thinking on similar terms!!:-p
Couple of points:-
It is not essentially a lottery in the sense tht the points collection is also associated with the bidder having already got goods.And that too at really good bargains already...so it jus boils down to the fact that if you have already bidded for goods which are "usable" for u (in the process of point collection) you dont lose much. Essentially the point of analysis neednt even focus on the Max Bid ..rather on the prior point collection involving the bidders!!
