An astonishing number of wingnuts and fundamentalists seem to regard Catholics with disdain and/or horror. I speak from experience: one of Stella's former friends hates Catholics and Muslims with equal fervor. I say "former" because she (and I) won't have anything to do with him, because he is so vociferous in his religious bigotry.
I frequently stand side-by-side with "peace and justice" Catholics at activist events and protests; as to their reasons, honestly, I don't care where they get their motivations toward good deeds, as long as they act on them. O'Reilly is a hostile nutcase like Stella's ex-friend.

Well, I would be happy to tell your sister, but I don't know her.
My mother is the same way... only she listens to right wing radio. I can't understand why she'd listen to Rush (and I'm not talking about the band) except that she doesn't often change the channel on the radio. She sounded like him, one day, when we were talking. I let her talk, then changed the subject.
