I saw the discussion that they were having about this over at bread and roses. I saw that one of them even asked if that was the name of the woman who died. It is amazing given the amount of time and attention that they have given this bill that they don't even show the dignity of knowing the name of the woman whose death prompted her family to lobby for such a bill. So..for those who have cared so little about the very woman and child that died...she answered the door to a childhood friend who had become involved with drugs..he was having delusions. He stabbed her ending her life and that of her unborn child. She was 26 or 27 weeks pregnant. The baby was viable. Her sister in law had a baby that lived born a week earlier than this baby. The man that did this was charged with one murder. Here is her picture http://media.canada.com/8b155442...0f9f/

she was buried with her son in her arms.
Her family and the father of that little boy have been relentless in pursuing this issue. Mary Talbot has publicly said that she feels treated poorly by pro-choice advocates. She, herself, is pro-choice and has been emphatic that she doesn't want this bill to impact abortion.
I understand why prochoice are nervous that this bill will ultimately impact abortions and while I don't share their view on abortion I understand what motivates them to argue against it. At the same time you would think they could find some way of honouring the sadness of Olivia's death and the grief of her family.
