A mere .04% take place after 20 weeks and only when the health or life of the woman is at stake.
The Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada says you're wrong.
Suzanne, do you have any links or stats to prove her wrong? I'm tired of people putting false information in op-eds. Thanks.

Hi Joanne
Those stats are from 2003, I believe. You can find 2004 stats here:

s...tional_age.html
StatsCan doesn't put the gestational ages on its website, but it collects them.

Personally, I am getting tired of people calling abortion a victory in my name.
Amen. I get so tired of being slandered. Just because I have two X chromosomes doesn't mean that I approve of killing unborn babies.
In fact, poll after poll finds women sharply divided on abortion, with just as many of us considering it an abomination as considering it some sort of "right" to "celebrate".
Why not say, "A victory for women who support abortion"?

"Why not say, "A victory for women who support abortion"?"
If you want to be honest (and I realize that's a pretty big "if") why not say "A victory for women (and men) who support reproductive CHOICE"?

why not say "A victory for women (and men) who support reproductive CHOICE"?
Because it's not just a victory for those people, but for people who believe in co-erced abortion, which often happens.

JJ, calling abortion "reproductive choice" makes as much sense as calling the Gas Chamber a "respiratory therapy room". Abortion is killing the baby after you have already reproduced.

"calling abortion 'reproductive choice' makes as much sense as..."
That's because it's not "abortion" that is being celebrated... it's the right to CHOOSE!
The choice isn't always ABORTION - but at least the choice is there.
I would never celebrate an abortion, it's (at best) a very sad event. The choice is important though and I'll fight for it if I have to.

Joe your view that abortion is at best a sad event is not considered a proper pro-choice position by abortion rights activists who are angered by the stance that abortions should be reduced through use of birth control. They are angered by the whole "safe, legal, and rare" mentality.

Hailey - Bullshit. Nobody wants more abortions -- We only want women to have the choice.
That kind of hysterical hyperbole is why you people can't get anyone to take you seriously.

Hey JJ, I don't mind that you express disagreement, but let's cut out the vulgar words--it helps keep the discussion civil.

Sorry, SUZANNE. When I see something that is an outright, blatant lie such as Hailey posted, I sometimes lose control. I won't do it again! I promise!!! :p
