Gravatar Gosh, where to start.... this was a horrible post by you Suzanne - one of the worst.

"Fraught with dilemma?
What ever could that mean?
... A fetus is a nothing."

Your attitude here does not represent what every pro-choice person feels (none that I have met). I understand the "dilemma", and I understand that it's a very sensetiver issue - and many women, including doctors, have strong feelings about this.

I do not like death/killing. It's a horrible result of abortion - and I understand the moral obligation some doctors have to not perform abortions. I would never expect a doctor that doesn't feel right about performing an abortion to perform one. I would happily accept their decision and CHOICE to not perform them - it is their decision.

You are trying to make pro-choicers seem like sadistic heartless people when that isn't the case.

I for one have no problem with women loving their fetus - it's a beautiful thing. I also have to support the women who don't want to be pregnant and see abortion as a way out - it's not pretty in any sense, but we have to respect the woman's rights.

Gravatar So Joe, are you saying you support the right of pro-life pharmacists not to dispense 'emergency contraception' (ie, Plan B)? When Plan B works, it only works as an early abortion-causing drug and many pharmacists want to be able to do their jobs helping people without having to contribute to the killing of unborn human beings.

It's good to see you admitting that death/killing is a part of abortion. The part that leaves pro-lifers clueless trying to understand your position is why the option to cause the death of a living human being is REQUIRED in order to safeguard some nebulous 'women's rights' to 'not be pregnant'.

Gravatar "So Joe, are you saying you support the right of pro-life pharmacists not to dispense 'emergency contraception'"

Yes I do. If they own the pharmacy they have the right not to stock it, if they just work there they have the right not to actively sell it.

How would you solve the dilemma? I see abortion as the only option in these cases... that doesn't mean I 'like' abortion, it just means that I respect a woman's right to 'not be pregnant'.

Gravatar "...if they just work there they have the right not to actively sell it."

I should note here - if they just work at the pharmacy, then they have a right not to actively sell it. But since they just work there the owner has a right to fire them for not selling it. It's up to them - how strongly do they feel about this drug? Enough to lose their job by refusing to sell it?
