Thanks for posting this. I hear you loud and clear. I've been struggling with this in my own life. I'm a newer Christian - about 4 years. It becomes confusing - as you look for "resources" and you find these self-help Christian books that drone on with the same drivel for 300 pages. Read the first chapter, and that says it all pretty much.

In the Screwtape Lettters Wormwood is instructed to convince his man that church is just a club where we get together to share our hopes and dreams, our regrets and sorrows and to escape from the humdrum ways of the world. He says that as long as man sees church as a club he will never find Christ or hope and will remian in Satan's clutches forever. Sound familiar.
