Most assuredly, there will be periods in life when you will have to choose between pleasing your wife and pleasing God. As wonderful as a wife (or a husband!) might be, He will not allow us to turn them into idols to be served in His place.

Just as Abraham had to choose between Isaac and God, so we will have to being willing to sacrifice our wives. Of course, sometimes thinking about killing one's spouse is a lot easier than at other times! And I know might wife would chime in with, "Amen!"
