Gravatar This is the centeredness I've been looking for in this discussion. Thanks for contributing!

Gravatar EXACTLY!!!! This is exactly where the discussion needs to go. Lets work together to understand the good and the bad and be able to teach people and walk with people to embrace the glorious good gifts of the Holy Spirit and to be able to avoid to unhealthy practices of mania. It will take wisdom and insight from the Holy Spirit to edify the church to articulate this balance.
Go Bless,

Gravatar This is a great post John, I am going to link here.

For the last few years I have attended a charismatic church that fortunately does not exhibit some of the excesses sometimes associated with "charismania". I think this is because our pastor is a careful to make sure that what is taking place in the church is orderly and biblically founded. At the same time, in my own reading and thinking, I am often drawn towards reformed thinkers, who seem to press in more deeply and biblically into many issues. I agree with your desires expressed here. I think that God awaits to release His power in our lives-- not so that we may brag of ecstatic, personal experiences, but that we may more boldly and effectively serve Him in the power of the Spirit.

Gravatar I more than anyone know the dangers of charismatic thought run amuck

I don't doubt you know something. But more than anyone?

Gravatar OK -- Catez, maybe I am being a little hyperbolic, but it is some pretty negative stuff. How 'bout "as well as"

Gravatar "As well as" sounds better to me.
