Well said, and thanks for the link. Speaking of Cassandra, great minds must think alike. I used the metaphor, sort of, here...

Peace like a river did in fact nail it. He understands what the Reaganites are mad about. I had never heard of this blog before. Thank you very much for the link.

You're right on every count, and I wish more of these GOP's who insist on acting like cowards, afraid of a fight, would listen. I suspect that the nomination of a true conservative-- especially with a Dem filibuster-- would be the best thing to happen for the Republican Party. In fact, don't even nominate a stealth nominee after the first filibuster-- just keep nominating true conservatives to wear the Dems down and make them look like fools in the harsh glare of the public eye.
This is an own-goal by Bush. He has a rare chance to name a solid and reliable conservative, but instead he nominates a crony staffer with no Constitutional law experience and a documented supporter of affirmative action quotas by race and gender (rather than by class alone, which would be more acceptable). Very stupid on his part.

So only democrats are partisan hacks? Bork also supports censorship, glad he got "borked"!

Good point Jake. Specter is a partisan hack too. He just hacks for the wrong party.
