Be careful. Don't let yourself get caught making similar mistakes.
The object standing on the wall is a 155mm artillery round. The colored band is a code for what type it is; I don't know the code. It weighs about a hundred pounds, and cost about $500 - $700 depending on type. The powder charge to fire it is separate, weighs about fifty pounds, and costs $300 or so. It is current use, not "WWII". Here is a picture of a 155 howitzer firing.
The sad thing here is not that the NYT lied. The sad thing is that the NYT was lied to, and nowhere in all the layers and layers and layers of fact-checkers and editors could they find anyone who could detect that.

Ric

Thanks for the comment. I will add your correction to the post. But is not this shell similar to what was used in WWII?
I basically agree with your last paragraph, but the NYT was all too willing to be lied to for their own agenda. Had a source told the NYT that this shell was one of Saddam's WMD's, the photo would never have seen the light of day.
The basic point remains when it comes to the MSM/DNC - "we can't be sure of anything we see."

I don't know what source you use, but it is widely reported here in Europe as fact that the US bombed a house thought to contain senior Al Queada members just inside Pakistan, killing 18 people (at the time of writing not al queada members)and i'm afraid to say that the American Air Force does have a bad reputation for killing innocents, it's a main bone of contention in the anti war lobby that the missiles are sent "blindly" from a long way off which destroy buildings no problems but has little regard for anyone near at the time, as the Twin Tower attacks show, it's always the innocent ones who suffer the worst.
