I recall that day, and I was in the audience. Lantos phrased his comments to the witness as virtually inviting Livingstone to commit suicide. Lantos always struck me as a wierd member who nonetheless added to the richness of the institution.

That's a very narrow definition of the word "files" - kind of like your old boss defining "is."
Lantos was a Democrat.
The idea of "background summaries" -or whatever you call it - in the hands of government officials is repugnant.
