That was exactly what I was thinking. You summed it up so well.
You're a very helpful member of the public, happy Christmas

The one that taxes my tolerance is the announcement, at the end of a radio play "Other parts were played by members of the cast." Surely, all parts were played by members of the cast. I expect better of Radio 4.

From the same school of thought as 'this page left intentionally blank', presumably.

What I want to know is if there is a fault with the information, how is it able to tell that there is a fault? Surely the fault would prevent that?
More to the point, why do they pay people to sit around thinking of fault messages that they can squeeze into their three line message boards when they could just fix the fault and save themselves the trouble?

If you look at the time in the photo, you can take the '1' from the '8' to get 7.
You can add the '4' to the '3' to get 7.
You can add the '5' to the '2' to get 7.
Then you have 777, which is just 111 away from 666, the sign of the devil!!
Do you need any more proof that those at South West Trains should be burnt at the stake?

Of course, the sign doesn't say that no information can be displayed because of a fault with the sign. It simply says that no information can be displayed because of a fault.
I suggest that perhaps the fault is not with the sign, but with some aspect of the information gathering process which has resulted in no information being gathered.

Have you thought of getting together a march on Southwest Trains HQ?
It could be "The Pedant's Revolt"!

Murph - Surely you mean "The Pedants' Revolt"? (Or was that what you were hoping I would say?)

Very good. Reminds me of this.
I do hope somebody at South West Trains has pinned the letter up over their desk and is right now typing it into the Christmas newsletter as an amusing diversion from getting trains to run on time.
